The Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) presents Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100, a major exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Surrealist movement. As the final stop in an ambitious tour organized with the Centre Pompidou in Paris— and the sole venue for this exhibition in the United States—the PMA will tell the story of Surrealist art, spotlighting the makers who sought out new expressive forms to expand the reach of the creative imagination. We’ll tour this extraordinary exhibit when we travel to Philadelphia on Thursday, Nov. 20. We’ll depart from the Village Center at 7:45 a.m., arriving in downtown Philadelphia in time to enjoy a three-course luncheon at Spasso Italian Grill. Please make menu choices at sign ups (details on website). Then we’re off to the PMA to tour “Surrealism at 100.” On display are works by Man Ray, Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, Paul Klee and more. The cost of the trip, transportation, three-course luncheon, admission to the museum and special exhibit, and taxes, is $199. Residents who sign up by Nov. 7 pay $180. Registration begins immediately at the Village Center for Village residents. Nonresidents may sign up beginning Nov. 8 and pay $209. No refunds after Nov. 7, unless the spot can be filled. There are 18 spaces available. You’ll also have time to visit some of the galleries in the museum before we depart from Philly. We should return by 8 p.m. A portion of the cost of this trip has been covered by a generous donation from the estate of Ana Gardano.
