Come with us to Baltimore for lunch at a charming French bistro and a guided tour of the exhibit of noted portrait artist Amy Sherald on Thursday, March 26. “Amy Sherald: American Sublime” tells the story of the artist’s vision and practice through 38 paintings created from 2007 to the present—from her early, rarely seen works to her iconic, larger than life protraits of Black Americans in everyday moments, including the award-winning “Miss Everything” and the official portrait of First Lady Michelle Obama. We’ll depart from the Village Center at 10:30 a.m. and drive to Baltimore’s Roland Park for a three-course luncheon at Petit Louis. Choose a soup or salad to start, quiche or croque monsieur for an entree, and enjoy chocolate mousse for dessert. Hot coffee or tea are included. Following lunch, we’ll take a guided tour of the exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Art. You’ll also have time to view other exhibits at the BMA. We should return to the Village Center by 6:30 p.m. The cost of the trip, including transportation, lunch, and a guided tour of the exhibit, is $140. Residents who sign up by March 12 pay $125. Residents and a resident guest may sign up at the Village Center immediately. Nonresidents may sign up beginning March 13. A portion of this trip is made possible by a generous donation from the estate of Ana Gardano.
