In honor of International Women’s Month in March, the Friendship Heights Village Center will celebrate
female strength and resilience as told in the works of authors Laura Knoy and Iris Mitlin Lav during book talks and signings on Thursday, March 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. “The Shopkeeper of Alsace,” by New Hampshire Public Radio journalist Knoy is an “uplifting tale of family, love, resilience and one unstoppable woman” amidst two World Wars.
In “A Wife in Bangkok,” Lav tells the story of Crystal, who reluctantly follows her husband from a small town in Oklahoma to Thailand in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. Hers is a story of sacrifice, self-discovery and struggles battling depression, while adapting to a very different culture.
Join us for a captivating evening as both authors discuss and sign their respective books. Copies of “The Shopkeeper of Alsace” and “A Wife in Bangkok” will be available for purchase.
Registration is required to ensure a seat. To register, click on the “Sign-up for Programs!” button at the top of the page.
