Get to know the history of our Village

You’ve probably walked past him hundreds of times—that smiling, silent police officer keeping guard at the corner of South Park Avenue and The Hills Plaza. You may have sought shelter from the heat beneath the holly trees near the fountain in front of the Village Center, never giving them a second thought. Learn the story behind these landmarks and how the Village of Friendship Heights grew from fields and forests into a multigenerational, multicultural high-rise community when Village Historian Dr. Alfred Muller presents “The History of Friendship Heights to 1950—From Wilderness to Farmland to High-Rise Community,” on Monday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m., at the Village Center. Muller has lived in Friendship Heights since 1973 and served as the
Village’s first mayor. Please read more details in the Village News. Registration is required to ensure a seat. To register, click on the “Sign up for Programs!” button at the top of the page.
