East Asian-style paintings fill the walls of Friendship Gallery

The National Capital Area Chapter (NCAC) of the Sumi-e Society of America presents “Joyful Celebration: Painting in the East-Asia Styler” this month in the Friendship Gallery. The exhibit, part ofthe celebration of Asian-American Pacific Islander Month, features paintings and scrolls by 25 to 30 artists working with ink and watercolor on silk, rice paper, gold or silver shikishi boards and scrolls. Please read more about the techniques in the Village News. Meet the artists at an art reception onSaturday, May 17, from 120:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Village Center. The Village Center is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m to 5 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Art in the auditorium is occasionally not available for viewing because of activities in that room. Please check with the front desk upon arrival. All sales are final.
