Concert: R2 Duo return

Father and son Timothy and Charles Roberts present a piano and saxophone performance on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 12 p.m., at the Village Center.

Grammy-nominated American Saxophonist Timothy Roberts, a native of Richardson, Texas, is currently Professor of Saxophone and Instrumental Division Chair at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA.

In 2011 he retired as Principal Saxophonist and National Tour Soloist with the US Navy Band in Washington, DC, where he was also Coordinator of the Navy Band’s International Saxophone Symposium. As one of the Navy Band’s premier concert soloists, Roberts performed for five U.S. Presidents, many foreign dignitaries, and hundreds of thousands of people throughout all 48 states and around the world from 1987-2011.

Twenty-two year-old American pianist Charles Roberts started piano at the late age of 10, and was accepted into Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA at age 14. Roberts studied with John O’Conor at The Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto for his Bachelors in Performance, and is currently a Masters student at the Royal College of Music in London studying under Prof. Dmitri Alexeev.
