Concert: Michael Arenstein Trio salutes Cole Porter

Jazz pianist Michael Arenstein is joined by bassist Paul Langosch and vocalist Barbara Bauer for tribute to legendary composer Cole Porter. A retired ear, nose and throat surgeon in Montgomery County, Arenstein studied piano at Emory University before taking a gap year to play professionally and later attend Emory Medical School. He has played with jazz ensembles that opened for Buddy Rich, Count Basie and the Maynard Ferguson Band. A veteran of the international jazz circuit, Langosch is one of the most respected bassists of his generation. He toured and recorded with the legendary Tony Bennett for more than two decades, appearing on ten of his albums. Langosch has also performed with a long list of jazz greats, including Mel Tormé, Jon Hendricks, Phil Woods, George Shearing, Rosemary Clooney, and Barney Kessel. Bauer began singing professionally at the age of 18, when she performed in local clubs in Washington, D.C. She later joined a traveling show band, singing in venues across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. For more than 30 years, she was the lead singer of the dance band Fresh Air. She now performs regularly with the Olney Jazz Band. Those arriving after the start of the performance are asked to please wait for a break to enter and close the door gently. Please turn off phones prior to entering the auditorium. If you must leave early, please wait for a break in the performance.
