Yoga class offers relaxation and focus for children

Village children, ages 8 to 12, are invited to take part in a four-week yoga class on Fridays, from 4 to 4:45 p.m., April 24 through May 15 at the Village Center. The class, which will be offered through a pre-recorded video by an expert yoga practitioner, offers a blend of movement, breathwork, cultural storytelling, and guided reflection. Each session is unique: Week One offers an introduction to yoga and body awareness, breathing for focus and “Mountain, Tree and Cat-Cow” poses; Week Two stresses balance and strength challenges, modified sun salutations, are “Warrior 1 & @, Chair and Plank poses; Week Three focuses on gentle flow sequences, emotional regulation tools, and “Butterfly, Twist and Cobra Poses.” In Week Four, participants will review favorite poses, join in creative pose-making, and relaxation visualization. The class is free. Registration is required. Click on the “Sign Up for Programs” at the top of the page. Waivers must be completed prior to the start of class.
